A list of projects could not be retrieved error appears when you log on to SAS® Forecast Studio


When you log on to SAS Forecast Studio, if your user ID does not have the correct operating system file permissions on the project folder, or does not have the correct metadata permissions, a pop-up error message appears:

An error occurred. The list of projects could not be retrieved.
Save the details of this message and contact your system administrator.


To determine whether the error is due to incorrect file permissions or incorrect metadata permissions, click Details. Compare the details with the two following scenarios:

com.sas.apps.session.WorkspaceServerAccessException: 
com.sas.iom.SASIOMDefs.GenericError: Insufficient authorization to 
access <your SAS Forecast Server project directory path>


1. The problem is due to incorrect file permissions

The user ID does not have Read and Execute permissions on the operating system SAS® Forecast Server project directory. Check with your system administrator to obtain Read and Execute permission for your user ID on the SAS Forecast Server project folder or directory.

Caused by: java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: Unable to check permissions on application folder;
nested exception is:
com.sas.services.ServiceException: Attempt to add a subfolder with a duplicate name.


2. The problem is caused by incorrect metadata permissions 

The user ID does not have ReadMetadata permission within the SAS Forecast Server System applications metadata folder structure in SAS® Management Console. Contact your SAS system administrator to correct the metadata folder permissions.
