SAS is providing and supporting quarterly updates to the embedded Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) drivers for DataFlux Data Management Studio and DataFlux Data Management Server 2.8, 2.9.1, and 2.10. The 2025 Q2 update is now available and can be downloaded from the Hot Fix Information box at the top this article. A release announcement for each update will be posted on the SAS Communities Hot Fix Site.
Important Release Notes:
Review the release notes for your update. If you didn't apply the previous updates, be sure to review those notes as well to determine whether any are relevant to your environment.
2025 Q2 Update
- Starting with the 2025 Q2 update, updated ODBC drivers are available for DataFlux Data Management Studio and DataFlux Data Management Server 2.10.
- The SQL Server Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with Microsoft Fabric SQL Data Warehouse.
2025 Q1 Update
- Starting with the 2025 Q1 update, Microsoft Visual C/C++ runtime version 14.40 will be installed on Microsoft Windows if it isn't already present on the system.
- The PostgreSQL Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with PostgreSQL 17.
- The DB2 Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with DB2 i 7.5.
2024 Q4 Update
- Starting with the 2024 Q4 update, the Impala Wire Protocol driver is certified with Apache Impala 3.4 and 4.0.
2024 Q3 and Earlier Releases Update
- The PostgreSQL Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with PostgreSQL 15 and 16.
- The DB2 Wire Protocol driver included in this update is supported with DB2 11.1 and 11.5 on Linux, UNIX, and Microsoft Windows (as well as DB2 12 and DB2 13 for z/OS and DB2 i 7.4). DB2 versions 9 and 10 are not supported with this driver.
- Due to an updated ICU library on AIX, installing this update on AIX 7.1 requires the system to have the IBM XL C++ 16.1 (or later) runtime installed. You can check which release of the runtime is installed by using the following command:
lslpp -l xlC.rte
If the release is earlier than 16.1.0.0, follow the instructions on this page: IBM XL C/C++ Runtime for AIX 16.1 to download and install the runtime for AIX 7.1. Note that AIX 7.2 and later releases do not have any additional requirements.
- The SQL Server Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with SQL Server 2022.
- The Greenplum Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with Greenplum 7.0.
- The Oracle Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with Oracle 23c.
- In July 2023, Progress DataDirect announced the retirement of the Oracle Client ODBC Driver with an EOL date of June 2024. As a result of this change, the Oracle Client driver is no longer included in the quarterly ODBC driver updates that are provided by SAS. In order to maintain a fully supported environment, SAS recommends migrating to the Oracle Wire Protocol driver as soon as possible. For more information, see Progress DataDirect Product End of Life Announcement July 2023.
- Starting with the 2023 Q3 release, the ODBC drivers in the following list use a new version of SSL for secure communications that requires an update to the DataFlux ODBC secure package. If you use any of the affected ODBC drivers with SSL or secure authentication configured, contact SAS Technical Support to obtain the patch that is needed to update the DataFlux ODBC secure package:
- Amazon Redshift Wire Protocol
- Apache Hive Wire Protocol
- DB2 Wire Protocol
- MySQL Wire Protocol
- Oracle Wire Protocol
- PostgreSQL Wire Protocol
- SQL Server Wire Protocol
- The Oracle Wire Protocol driver and the cURL library that are included with this update include fixes for the vulnerabilities described in SAS Note 70169, "The Oracle Wire Protocol driver and the cURL library included with DataFlux® ODBC drivers are affected by vulnerabilities."
- The cURL library that is included in this update includes a fix for the vulnerability described in SAS Note 69989, "The cURL library included with the DataFlux® ODBC drivers is affected by the vulnerability described in CVE-2022-42915."
- The Postgres Wire Protocol driver that is included in this update is certified with Yellowbrick Data Warehouse.
- The Salesforce driver that is included in this update includes a fix for the vulnerability described in SAS Note 69773, "The DataFlux® Salesforce ODBC driver is affected by the remote code execution vulnerability described in CVE-2022-41853."
- The Informix Wire Protocol driver included in this update is supported with Informix 12.1 and 14.1. Informix version 11 and earlier are not supported with this driver.
- With this hot fix, SAS removes support for Apache Spark SQL connectivity through ODBC within SAS® Data Management Platform 2.8 and 2.9. Future releases of SAS® Data Management, including DataFlux Data Management Studio and DataFlux Data Management Server, no longer deliver support for Apache Spark SQL connectivity through ODBC. If this driver was used, you can migrate to ODBC or Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) drivers that are available for free from Spark engine vendors.
