Question marks are displayed in SAS® Scalable Performance Data Server tables within SAS® Enterprise Guide® 8.5 connected to SAS® Viya® Compute Context


When accessing tables stored in a SAS Scalable Performance Data Server through SAS Enterprise Guide 8.5, an issue might occur where all data cells display only question marks (???). This issue occurs only when using a SAS® Viya® platform Compute Server context.

Note: This issue is specific to the SAS Viya platform Compute Server context. When connecting through a SAS® 9.4 Workspace Server or a SAS® Viya® 3.5 Compute Server, the SAS Scalable Performance Data Server table data is displayed correctly.

This issue occurs when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Open SAS Enterprise Guide 8.5.
  2. Connect to a SAS Viya platform Compute Server context.
  3. Assign a library pointing to a SAS Scalable Performance Data Server with the sasspds engine.
  4. In the Server pane, navigate to the assigned SAS Scalable Performance Data Server library.
  5. Double-click any table within the library to open it in the data grid. Each data cell displays three question marks (???) instead of the actual values.
  6. Use your mouse pointer to select one or more cells in the data grid. The real data values become visible while selected.

This issue is fixed in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 8.6.
