The bulkload SAS data execution (DATA Step or the SQL procedure) for a SAS/ACCESS Interface to Spark library to Azure Databricks can fail with the following error message:

ERROR: Execute error: Error running query: Failure to initialize configuration for storage account
       accstoragedb2.dfs.core.windows.net: Invalid configuration value detected for fs.azure.account.key
       Invalid configuration value detected for fs.azure.account.key

This error can occur when using a Serverless Compute service with the following Runtime versions:

• Databricks Runtime LTS 14.3 (Compute)
• Databricks Runtime LTS 15.4 (Compute)
• Databricks Runtime LTS 16.4 (Compute)
• Databricks Runtime LTS 17.3 (Compute)
• Databricks Runtime LTS 18.0 (Compute)

There is an unresolved issue accessing the Azure storage account (ADLS Gen 2) from SAS in certain Databricks Runtime versions. This issue affects BULKLOAD and BULKUNLOAD operations of SAS/ACCESS Interface to Spark.

Workaround

To work around this issue, do either of the following:

• Use a Databricks SQL Warehouse instead of a Serverless Compute service.
• Use the Databricks Runtime LTS 13.3 version for your Serverless Compute service.
