Attempting to install SAS® Enterprise Guide® fails with the error "Setup failed... Another version of this product is already installed..."


When you try to install SAS Enterprise Guide, the following error occurs:

Setup Failed

One or more issues caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup.
For more information see the log file.

0x80070066 - Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this 
version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this 
product, use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

This error occurs because the installer for the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable fails. In the error, this product is the VCRedist, not SAS Enterprise Guide. The install log shows that the redistributable install failed:

Workaround

To workaround this issue, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Windows Control Panel ► Programs ► Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall both the (x86) and (x64) versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable.
  3. Rerun the SAS Enterprise Guide installer to reinstall both versions.
