Changes to SAS Authorization Codes (SETINITs) as of April 2024

On April 1, 2024, some welcome changes were introduced to SAS authorization codes (setinits).

First, SAS has eliminated “temporary” setinits. Full-term authorization codes will be given on new sales once a signed contract, purchase order (if required), or other required legal document is processed and being fulfilled, with or without payment. This will help minimize the administrative tasks for you because the application of the authorization code will need to happen only once.

Second, some customers will have auto-renewals. In coordination with the changes to authorization codes, industry standard auto-renewal language will be added to the following addenda: SAS Software License Addendum, Hosted Managed Services Addendum, Subscription Services Addendum, and SAS Perpetual Software License Addendum. If your contract with SAS includes one or more of these addenda, you are subject to auto-renewal. That means that your software will automatically be renewed, and no action is needed unless you do not want to renew. If you do not want to renew, you must provide SAS with 60 days’ notice as stated in the addenda.

SAS hopes that these changes will help minimize tasks and increase efficiencies within your organization. SAS looks forward to serving you better.
