The error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" occurs when you reference inaccessible, custom task add-ins


SAS® Enterprise Guide® might fail and return the following error when you reference custom task add-ins that are inaccessible:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. System NullReferenceException

To work around this issue:

  1. Open SAS Enterprise Guide.
  2. Select Tools ► Add-In ► Add-In Manager.
  3. In the Add-in Manager dialog box, select name of the custom task.
  4. Click either Update or Remove for each of the inaccessible, custom-task DLL files.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart SAS Enterprise Guide and re-test.
