Scoring in SAS® Intelligent Decisioning might fail with "ERROR: In method 'getxxx': found yyy parameter 'zzz'"

In SAS Intelligent Decisioning, you can add various custom code files (including a Python code file) in your decision. However, scoring a decision either in SAS® Cloud Analytic Services or SAS® Micro Analytic Service might fail with the following error message:

In method 'getxxx': found yyy parameter 'zzz' starting from 2026.03.

Note: This same Python code file might have worked in previous releases of the SAS® Viya® platform.

For example, the following screenshot captures the failure that occurs when executing a decision in SAS Micro Analytic Service:

"errorCode": -1958743636,

In addition, the following screenshot captures the error that occurs when executing a decision in SAS Cloud Analytic Services:

ERROR: In method 'getxxx': found yyy parameter 'zzz'

Cause

An intentional product change was made starting from 2026.03 so that users are provided with more context with the accurate information. The old code was technically wrong in allowing mismatched types, but the conversion sometimes worked.

After the product change, user code also needs to be updated to pass in the correct types, rather than relying on implicit conversions that might have worked previously.

This product change have been documented in About Assigning Return Data Types with Getter Methods.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you need to update your variables with the appropriate data types based on your needs.

For example, in order to execute a decision, change the variable's data type (based on the above mentioned errors) as follows:

Original:
rq_changeEffectiveDate - Datetime
rq_futureDatedEvent - Integer

Updated:
rq_changeEffectiveDate - Date
rq_futureDatedEvent - Boolean
