The Merge Table steps in SAS® Studio flows might fail with "Bad request body" and "Target column not found in target table" errors


An issue can occur where SAS Studio flows fail after you upgrade to SAS Studio on SAS® Viya® 2025.06 or later. This issue also affects SAS Studio flows that previously worked in any version earlier than and including SAS® Viya® 2025.05

The affected flows contain a structure similar to the following (where the relevant section is the Merge Table step):

After you try to run this flow, an error similar to the following might occur:

An error occurred while processing the "Swimlane 7" flow. The node "Merge Table 2" contains a reference to an argument which cannot be resolved or is invalid. Bad request body. Generating program model: Target column AN not found in target table

A metadata corruption after an upgrade into SAS Studio on SAS Viya version 2026.06 and later causes this issue due to a problem with column types.

Workaround

To circumvent this issue, rebuild the Merge Table-step from scratch, which enables you to run the flow again. This issue is resolved in patches for SAS Studio on SAS® Viya® 2025.08 and later versions.
