After you apply certain updates in SAS 9.4MX environments, searches from SAS Visual Analytics might fail with one or more of the following symptoms:

• SAS Visual Analytics does not return search results.
• The search operation fails with an HTTP 500 Internal Server error.
• The following message is displayed:

An error occurred. Please refer to the log for details or contact your system administrator.

Cause

A defect in the SAS Search Service can cause search requests to fail during response processing. When this issue occurs, the Search Service is unable to correctly generate the response that SAS Visual Analytics requires, which results in an HTTP 500 error.

Resolution

The hot fix for this issue corrects the Search Service response handling so that search requests are processed correctly. As a result, search results can be returned successfully.

After you apply the hot fix, the following occurs:

• Searches from SAS Visual Analytics complete successfully.
• HTTP 500 errors related to this issue no longer occur.
• Existing search functionality continues to operate as expected.

Verification

After applying the hot fix, complete a search from SAS Visual Analytics Hub and verify the following:

• Search results are returned successfully.
• No HTTP 500 errors are displayed.
• Searches complete as expected.
