In SAS® Management Console, you might receive the following error when you use an SPK file to import an existing communication definition:

This problem happens if the definition cannot overwrite the existing definition (that is, when the Delete option is disabled).To determine whether the Delete option is disabled, right-click the communication definition to open the menu and verify that the Delete is disabled (grayed out). If the Delete option is disabled, it is grayed out on the menu, as shown below.

To work around this problem, enable and use the Force Metadata Delete option to delete the existing communication definition, as described below:
These steps enable the Force Metadata Delete option in the menu, as shown below:

Select this option to force the deletion of the existing communication definition.
After you follow the steps above, you should be able to import a communication definition without the need to delete the existing definition first.
