Text can be accidentally deleted in SAS® Visual Investigator when you return to a page from another application

You might accidentally delete text that you previously entered because SAS Visual Investigator highlights the text when you return to SAS Visual Investigator from another application. When you enter some new text, the highlighted text is deleted.

For example, you are likely to encounter this issue if your text box is configured for Multi-line input via a Text Input control, as shown in the following screenshot from SAS Visual Investigator (Manage Investigate and Search):

The the Multi-line check box is selected in the Text Input box.

This issue occurs when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Enter text in a Text Input control text box where Multi-line option was configured. (Note: Text input does not have to span lines for the issue to occur.)
  2. Switch to another window. For example, Microsoft Excel or another browser tab.
  3. Return to SAS Visual Investigator if you previously switched to another application, or return to the SAS Visual Investigator tab.
  4. The text input from Step 1 is highlighted.
  5. If you enter new text, the highlighted text is deleted.

Workaround

A workaround for this issue is to use the “undo” command (Ctrl+Z). If you deleted text by entering new text (as referenced above in Step 5), press the Ctrl key and the Z key as many times as it takes until your deleted text returns.
