A SAS® Viya® 3.5 backup fails with "GLOBAL_HISTORY_FILE_READ_ERROR..." when two instances of the sas-viya-deploymentbackup-default service are running


A SAS Viya backup might fail when two instances of the deploymentBackup service are running. In this scenario, the backups are created but the backup process does not end.

An error similar to the following occurs in the logs:

2020-09-28 10:23:07.237 ERROR 5806 --- [cTaskExecutor-1] c.s.backup.history.GlobalHistoryManager : service@@w09999 [2a0b173b92315cc4] [GLOBAL_HISTORY_FILE_READ_ERROR] An error occurred while reading the global history file. Exception: {0}.

Workaround:

When you stop one instance of deploymentBackup, the problem no longer occurs.
