When launching SAS for Microsoft 365 from a Microsoft Office desktop application, the sign-in page might never appear. Instead, the following message remains displayed indefinitely:
We are starting the add-ins runtime, just a moment...
As a result, you cannot proceed to the SAS for Microsoft 365 login page.
One possible cause of this behavior is that the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is not installed on the machine where the SAS for Microsoft 365 add-in is launched.
The Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is a prerequisite for SAS for Microsoft 365. However, depending on the type of Microsoft Office subscription installed, the WebView2 component might not be present by default.
Verify whether the following folder exists on the affected machine:
%LocalAppData%\Office\16.0\Wef\webview2
If the folder is missing, download and install the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime from the Microsoft website: Microsoft Edge WebView2.
Note: The architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) of the WebView2 Runtime must match the architecture of the installed Microsoft Office application.
After the installation is complete, restart Microsoft Office applications and launch SAS for Microsoft 365 again.
Toolbar buttons in SAS for Microsoft 365 might not render correctly when used with Microsoft Office desktop applications.
Although the icons might appear to be incorrect, all add-in functions remain fully operational.
