Including the SCANSTRINGCOLUMNS=no data set option when using the SQL or APPEND procedures to insert rows into a Google BigQuery table might result in an error similar to the following:

ERROR: CLI prepare error: Syntax error at or near "{options"

Workaround

There are no workarounds for this issue for SAS® 9.4 and SAS® Viya® 3.x. 

For the SAS® Viya® platform, upgrade to at least the stable 2025.02 or the LTS 2025.03 cadences.
