The FEDSQL procedure is not able to read em dash (—) values from a Postgres table when you use SAS software with UTF-8 encoding

PROC FEDSQL fails to read a row of Postgres data that contains an em dash (—) when you use SAS/ACCESS Interface to Postgres and UTF-8 encoding. In this scenario, the log shows the following:

NOTE: String data, right-truncated column name.

You do not encounter this issue when using the SQL procedure.

There is no workaround to use PROC FEDSQL with em dashes in the data and UTF-8 encoding.
