SAS® Merchandise Intelligence Client and SAS® Merchandise Solutions Configuration Workbench fail to start with "Failed to connect to server"


After installing the SAS Merchandise Intelligence Client and SAS Merchandise Solutions Configuration Workbench, you might encounter the following message:

Failed to connect to server.

In this scenario, the distudio log might contain a message similar to the following:

"Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionStoreException: Line 6 in XML document from class path resource [spring-config/services-config.xml] is invalid; nested exception is org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; lineNumber: 6; columnNumber: 69; cvc-elt.1.a: Cannot find the declaration of element 'beans'."

This message is caused by JAR files that point to the following locations that are problematic behind a firewall:
