Promoting a guided rule directly from the Grid View page does not complete successfully

In SAS® Rules Studio, when you write a new guided rule that creates an alert, clicking the Promote button on the Grid View page results in a busy indicator that never returns to the Testing folder as expected.

This issue occurs when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Click the New icon to create a new rule.
  2. Select Guided Approach and fill in the fields.
  3. In the Grid View, drag the fields to the work area and select values for the rule logic.
  4. Select the Create an Alert check box.
  5. Click the Promote button.
  6. When prompted, click OK to save the rule.
  7. Select Alert Destination and Alert Type in the Configure Alerts window.
  8. Click Save.

The busy indicator is displayed on the Testing folder but never returns.

Workaround

If this issue occurs, refresh the browser page to exit the busy indicator. However, the values that you entered on the Configure Alerts window might not have been saved. If the values are not set properly, move the rule back to the Coding folder and fix the values. You can then promote the rule to testing.
