The "Create Task Template" menu item should not be available for the "Import Data" task in SAS® Enterprise Guide®


SAS® Enterprise Guide® versions 8.1 to 8.5 allow you to save a task template based on the Import Data task. However, the template does not actually get created or saved.

Task templates are not supported with the Import Data task. When you right-click an Import node, the Create Task Template menu item in the context menu should not be available.

This issue occurs when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Add an Import Data task (File > Import Data) to a process flow and run it once to import any file.
  2. Right-click the Import Data node. The Create Task Template menu item is available, even though it is not supported.

There are no known workarounds for this issue.

The Create Task Template menu item is no longer available in the context menu in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 8.6.
