SAS® Enterprise Guide® displays the error "Local SAS is required for exporting as a SAS Data File" in a message box


SAS Enterprise Guide might display the following error in a message box:

Local SAS is required for exporting as a SAS Data File

This message is correct. To export a SAS data set to the local machine, local SAS is required. If local SAS is installed on the SAS Enterprise Guide computer, do the following:

  1. Open SAS Enterprise Guide and expand the Servers icon.
  2. Verify that the Local server is displayed. If it is not displayed, select Tools ► Connections.
  3. In the Connections window, select Servers.
  4. Select the box Automatically add local SAS server (if installed) to server list, then verify that Local server is present.
