When installing SAS® Enterprise Guide®, you might see the error "Return code from msiexec: 1619" in the IT log


When you are running the SAS® Deployment Wizard, it might fail to install SAS Enterprise Guide. In this case, the following error is reported in the IT Log:

Controller - There is a problem that seems to be related to the system running the install: The following error code, 1,619, was returned while installing the MSI package with the command msiexec.exe

This msiexec1619 error is due to a SAS Software Depot "root" path that exceeds 50 characters.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Modify the SAS Software Depot folder name to a name with fewer than 50 characters.
  2. Re-launch the installation and install SAS Enterprise Guide.
