The "Set proxy list for Metadata Server" option is available in SAS® Enterprise Guide® and SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office versions 7.11 and later


The new Set proxy list for Metadata Server option is now available for SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office versions 7.11 and later.

This feature is for users who are running vAPPs and are blocking the standard port 80, which would enable them to go out to the network and look at the defined Metadata port, such as 8561.

When you specify the Proxy Server address, SAS Enterprise Guide authenticates it by validating it against the defined Proxy server and, once validated, it connects to Metadata in the normal way.

With this new option in the SAS Enterprise Guide profile, comes a new entry written within the ConvigurationV71.xml as well.

Note: The proxy server address is provided by the Network Administrator, so it is quite possible that even the SAS Administrator would not have this information in a typical configuration.
