SAS® Visual Analytics displays "No qualifying variables could be found for the requested analysis" when attempting to use imported image data

Beginning with SAS® Viya® 3.5, you can import images to an in-memory table if you also license SAS® Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning. Each row in the table represents one image and its metadata. One of the imported columns is a measure named _image_ and its data type is VARBINARY. This data type is not supported by SAS Visual Analytics. If you attempt to use this column in a SAS Visual Analytics report, you see the following exception:

An error occurred com.sas.cas.CASException: No qualifying variables could be found for the requested analysis.
(severity=2 reason=0 statusCode=3070041)
5 ERROR: No qualifying variables could be found for the requested analysis.
5 ERROR: No qualifying variables could be found for the requested analysis.
