Terminate session actions fail in SAS® Cloud Analytic Services Server Monitor


In SAS® Viya™ 3.1, clicking Terminate Session for a single session or selecting Terminate ► any-menu-item in SAS Cloud Analytic Services Server Monitor fails to terminate the CAS sessions. No error is shown, but the CAS session(s) is not terminated.

Resolving the Problem

  1. Add the cap_kill capability to the CAS executable using the setcap command:
    sudo setcap cap_kill+pe /opt/sas/viya/home/SASFoundation/utilities/bin/cas
  2. Restart the CAS Controller:
    RHEL 6: sudo service sas-viya-cascontroller-default restart
    RHEL 7: sudo systemctl restart sas-viya-cascontroller-default
