Elasticsearch is an open source, distributed search engine that provides search capabilities to SAS Viya applications. You should use this SAS KB article to facilitate the collection of troubleshooting data for Elasticsearch and OpenSearch with SAS Viya 3.5 to provide informed problem analysis by SAS Technical Support.

Collect Data

Collect the following information:

I. Initial Questions

What is the version and hot fix level of your solution? (Log on ► click your user icon in the top right corner ► select About.)
Provide additional details about the issue that occurs with Elasticsearch.
Have you always experienced this issue with Elasticsearch? If not, have there been any recent changes in the environment?

II. Collect the following logs:

All of the logs from all the Elasticsearch machines: /opt/sas/viya/config/var/log/svi-elasticsearch.
All of the logs from all the microservices machines:
- /opt/sas/viya/config/var/log/svi-datahub
- /opt/sas/viya/config/var/log/svi-sand-service
- /opt/sas/viya/config/var/log/svi-indexer

III. Provide screenshots of the Jobs tab that showcase timestamps of the indexing attempts you made. (Navigate to SASVisualInvestigator ► Manage Investigate and Search ► Jobs.)

IV: Collect the output of the HeapSize settings, run from the microservice machine:

Set the source of the file: source /opt/sas/viya/config/consul.conf
Export the Consul token: export CONSUL_HTTP_TOKEN=$(sudo cat /opt/sas/viya/config/etc/SASSecurityCertificateFramework/tokens/consul/^
default/client.token)
Output the HeapSize settings of the environment: /opt/sas/viya/home/bin/sas-bootstrap-config kv read config/ --recurse | grep xm
