The Background Submission status might remain as "Running" even after the job completes in SAS® Studio 3.8*


The Background Submission status in the SAS® Studio 3.81, SAS® Studio 3.82, and SAS® Studio 3.83 releases might remain at Running even after the job completes. 

This issue occurs when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Submit a program by clicking Background Submit.
  2. Sign out of the SAS Studio session.
  3. The job completes while you are signed out.
  4. Start a new session of SAS Studio. 

The Background Job Status remains at "Running"

In this scenario, the Status is incorrectly displayed as Running. You might not be able to submit a new background submission of the same program since the job status is still Running. You might be unable to complete additional background submissions because either your limit on background submissions has been met, or the overall limit for your environment has been met. 

This problem occurs in SAS Studio 3.83 and was introduced in the following hot fixes for SAS Studio 3.81 and SAS Studio 3.82:

Workaround

To circumvent this issue, restart SAS® Web Application Server to clear the jobs from the Background Submission status.
