An issue occurs in SAS Financial Management 5.62 where forms do not consistently honor locked and unlocked period settings. In some scenarios, you can enter data into periods that are locked, while in other scenarios, unlocked periods remain read-only and prevent editing. This inconsistent behavior can cause confusion when reviewing or updating data within forms.
This issue appears to affect only SAS Financial Management 5.62. This issue has not occurred in earlier versions, such as SAS® Financial Management 5.6 or SAS® Financial Management 5.61.
Symptoms
When using the SAS Financial Management SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Excel, one or more of the following behaviors might occur:
- Cells remain editable even though their corresponding periods are locked.
- Unlocked periods are unexpectedly displayed as read-only in the form.
- The form’s editability does not match the period lock configuration.
- An error similar to the following might occur when you try to save data: Writeback failed because there are no writable cells that roll up to the parent.
How to Identify This Issue:
Complete the following steps to determine whether your environment is affected:
- In SAS Financial Management Studio, open a cycle that includes time periods configured with both locked and unlocked statuses.
- Verify that all periods for the selected cycle are locked (indicated by the padlock icon).
- Locate and open any form that contains data within the locked periods.
- Right-click the form and select Open in Excel.
- Observe that cells corresponding to locked periods remain editable in Microsoft Excel when they should be read-only. By default, cells in yellow are writable or editable, and cells in gray are read-only, per the standard color format for data-entry tables.

- Unlock one or more periods within the same cycle and reopen the form.
- Note that the cells for the unlocked periods might be displayed as read-only, even though the periods are not locked.

Workaround
At this time, there is no confirmed workaround to ensure consistent behavior of locked and unlocked periods across forms.
