When reading data from SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL Server with the OBS= data set option or OBS= SAS system option, performance might be reduced. As a result, an increase in Real and CPU Time occurs.
This issue might also cause an increase in time to open a table in SAS® Enterprise Guide®.
The issue was introduced with a SAS Hot Fix:
If you need to read only data from the library, use EnableServersideCursors=3, which you can set in your ODBC DSN options.
Although this workaround does not revert you to the original performance, it is far quicker.
Note: If you need to update tables in the library, you must not use this workaround because it can introduce Data Integrity issues. (For more information, see SAS Note 70912, "Read performance with SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Microsoft SQL Server might be poor or writes might be incorrect.")
