A "SAS Studio cannot open "xxx.sas" because it is not a supported file type" error occurs when you try to open SAS® Anti-Money Laundering programs


In SAS® Studio, you are unable to open SAS Anti-Money Laundering programs when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Navigate to the SAS Content panel.
  2. Double-click to open the out-of-the-box programs under /SAS Contents/Products/SAS Anti-Money Laundering.

As a result, the following error might occur: 

SAS Studio cannot open "xxx.sas" because it is not a supported file type.

This issue is fixed SAS® Studio 2026.02 and later.

Workaround

To circumvent this issue, open the programs from the Open menu instead of the SAS Content panel.
