In the Network view of SAS Visual Investigator, the Selection tab includes a Select by Label control.

This control searches object labels only; it does not search relationship labels.

In affected releases, if you enter multiple space-separated terms in Select by Label, the returned results can be broader or different than expected. In these scenarios, the selected objects might not correctly reflect the label text that you entered.

Cause

In the affected releases, the Select by Label control does not handle multiple space-separated search terms correctly. As a result, the search can return incorrect object selections.

Workaround

Method 1: Apply the Software Update That Fixes Incorrect Multi-Word Search Results

This issue is fixed in the following releases:

SAS^® Visual Investigator 10.8 Hot Fix 17
SAS^® Visual Investigator 2026.01

After you apply the appropriate update for your release line, searches that contain multiple space-separated terms in Select by Label return the expected object selections.

Method 2: Use "Select by Label" for Only Object Labels

The Select by Label control searches object labels only. It does not search relationship labels.

If you need to identify relationships by label, that is not currently supported by this control.

Method 3: Use a Simpler Search Until You Can Apply the Fix

If you cannot apply the update immediately, use one of the following workarounds:

Search using a single label term where possible.
Avoid entering multiple space-separated terms in Select by Label.
Confirm that your search is intended for object labels, not relationship labels.
