"An attempt to communicate with the SAS MetaData Server failed" errormessage appears when starting the SAS® Object Spawner

If you attempt to start the SAS Object Spawner before you start the SAS® Metadata Server, the following error messages might appear in the Object Spawner log:

ERROR: An attempt to communicate with the SAS Metadata Server failed. 20040229:20.26.30.84: 00000000:

ERROR: Bridge protocol engine socket access method was unable to connect an outcall socket to L6178.na.sas.com:8561, error = 10061 (The connection was refused.).

The solution: Start the Metadata Server before you start the Object Spawner.

You can verify that the Metadata Server is running by checking the Windows Task Manager for a SAS.EXE process. You can also verify that the Metadata Server is running by successfully connecting to the Metadata Server from SAS® Management Console by using the sasadm account.

To start the Metadata Server, select Start >Programs > SAS >BIArchitecture > Start SAS Metadata Server.

To start your object spawner, select Start > Programs > SAS > BIArchitecture > Start SAS Object Spawner.
