Determining the location from which SAS was installed


On the Microsoft Windows operating system, reference the following files to find out the location from which SAS was installed:

SAS® Foundation 9.1 installation (Basic)

  1. Open C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\ or point to the !sasroot you used and open sassetup.log with Notepad.
  2. Click Edit ► Find
  3. Search for the Media root directory

    Here is an example of what you might find:

    Media root directory: Z:\SSD\disk1

SAS 9.1 SAS® Software Navigator installation

  1. C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\ and open ssnprefs.xml with Notepad.

    On Vista:

    C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\SAS\SAS Deployment Wizard and open ssnprefs.xml with Notepad.

  2. Click Edit ► Find
  3. Search for: chain_installref

    Here is an example of what you might find:

    <entry key="0chain_installref" value="Z:\SSD\srwizard1cd\setup.exe" />

SAS Foundation 9.2 installation

  1. Open C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\ or point to the !sasroot you used and open sassetup.log with Notepad.
  2. Click Edit ► Find
  3. Search for:

    Media root directory

    Here is an example of what you might find:

    Media Root Directory: Z:\ssd_08w11\

SAS Deployment Wizard install

  1. C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\SAS\SAS Deployment Wizard and open ssnprefs.xml with Notepad.

    On Vista:

    C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\SAS\SAS Deployment Wizard and open ssnprefs.xml with Notepad.

  2. Click Edit ► Find
  3. Search for:

    Media root directory

    Here is an example of what you might find:

    Media Root Directory: Z:\installdepot\920_08w11\
