In Version 8 or later of the SAS System, PROC DB2EXT may result in a S0C4 abend. In addition to the abend, the following message might be present in the SASLOG:

ERROR: Variable is not on file ..<garbage>

This is only likely to occur if:

• The output SAS data set already exists
• A RENAME statement is used in PROC DB2EXT
• The QUERY fails in DB2. ex.(SQL-551).
