If there are more than a total of nine calls to the EXP, LOG, SQRT, or other functions in a PROC NLIN step, then the output that should be sent to the SAS Output Window may be sent to the SAS Log Window instead.

If you have specified your own derivatives, then you may be able to circumvent this problem by letting the procedure compute the derivatives. Automatic derivatives may require fewer function calls.
