If you are using SAS 9.1.3 Service Pack 4 and install the experimental PROC PANEL procedure, you may encounter the following error message in the SAS LOG:

ERROR: UNABLE TO ACCESS MESSAGE XXX.xx

To circumvent this error you will need to rename the file used for writing messages from SAS/ETS procedures and then reinstall PROC PANEL. To locate the ETS message file, go to the directory where SAS is installed on your computer and locate the subfolder containing the software for SAS/ETS. This folder is often stored in this location:

C:\PROGRAM Files\SAS\SAS9.1\ETS

but could be stored in a different location in your installation of the software. Once in that folder, rename the file ETS.MSG to OLDETS.MSG and then reinstall PROC PANEL.
