If the following conditions are met in PROC QLIM:

• the SELECT option and DISCRETE option are specified in the same MODEL statement or ENDOGENOUS statement
• the same dependent variable with SELECT and DISCRETE option specified has a missing value in the data set for every observation when the selection variable is not being selected
• an OUTPUT statement is specified

To circumvent the problem, specify an arbitrary value for the discrete dependent variable that is missing when the selection variable is not being selected. If the discrete dependent variable is a characteristic variable in the data set, you need to change the variable to a numeric variable first, then specify an arbitrary numeric value for the missing value.
