Incorrect correlation values are written to the OUTEST= data set when the OUTCORR option is used in PROC ARIMA

If the OUTEST= and OUTCORR options are specified in the ESTIMATE statement in PROC ARIMA, the correlations of the parameter estimates written to the OUTEST= data set are incorrect. The values associated with the TYPE=CORR observations in the OUTEST= data set do not match the Correlations of Parameter Estimates table displayed in the PROC ARIMA output.

There are two ways to circumvent the problem:

The example code below illustrates both circumventions:

proc arima data=a;
   ods output CorrB=est1;
   identify var=y;
   estimate p=3 outest=est2 outcorr outcov;
   run;
   quit;

proc print data=est1;
   run;

proc print data=est2;
   run;
