The print template does not support bidirectional text, or languages that use right-to-left text direction, in SAS® Visual Investigator

The print template does not support right-to-left (RTL) text. The steps to reproduce this behavior are as follows:

  1. Create a print template that is named “Arabic template” for an existing entity.
  2. Type text in Arabic.
  3. Click the Watermarks tab, and type the same text as a watermark.
  4. Save the template.
  5. Go to the user interface in SAS Visual Investigator and open an existing entity.
  6. Click Print.
  7. On the pop-up dialog box, select the template that you created in Step 1.
  8. Download and open the PDF.

In the PDF, the displayed Arabic text is not the original text that you entered, because the original characters are now reversed and written from left to right. In Arabic, the text should be from right to left.

There is no workaround, as this is a known limitation for Kendo, in which RTL is not supported. For more information about the Kendo user interface, see Limitations and Browser Support.
