DataFlux® Data Management Studio and DataFlux® Data Management Server 2.10 start-up fails when OpenSSL 3.x FIPS is enabled

Description

DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.10 and DataFlux Data Management Server 2.10 might fail to start when SSL is configured with FIPS mode enabled on systems running OpenSSL 3.x

This issue can occur even when the OpenSSL 3.x FIPS provider is properly installed and active, as described in DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.10: User's Guide - Configuring DataFlux Data Management Server.

Error Message

On Windows, DataFlux Data Management Server start-up might fail with an error similar to the following:

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

The dmserver.log file might also contain a message similar to the following:

INFO SSL INIT: OpenSSL 3.2.2 4 Jun 2024. FIPS mode support is disabled in this build of gSOAP library

Cause

DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.10 and DataFlux Data Management Server 2.10 use FIPS validation logic that is not compatible with the FIPS provider architecture introduced in OpenSSL 3.x. As a result, FIPS mode might not be detected correctly, causing SSL initialization and server start-up to fail even when the OpenSSL 3.x FIPS provider is installed and active.
